Seismic

Chaired by Gulf Canada Resources representative Bev Phillips this subcommittee was formed as a result of the concern in the area due to a large seismic program that ran for about a two-year period. As a result of this subcommittee's work the seismic contractors involved joined SPOG and created a public presentation on Seismic. The presentation will be repeated in the future if further Seismic is designated for the area.

Noise

The Caroline Area Noise Committee existed since 1994 and acted as an example of what industry and community could achieve when working together. Chaired for the past five years by SPOG Crammond community representative Dave Brown, the Noise committee had looked at the complex issue of noise in the Crammond area, which had sources from four different industrial facilities. Crammond resident Brian Johnston currently chairs the Noise Subcommittee and now includes the entire SPOG area in its mandate.

Flaring and Emissions

Chaired by Jim Bystrom the flaring and emissions subcommittee has worked at bringing information forward to the community about the studies, monitoring, etc. going on in the area of Flaring and Emissions. In the spring of 1999 they sponsored a public presentation on the New Alberta Flaring Guidelines and initiatives for flaring reduction in the Caroline/Sundre area.
